Most of you in the benefits world probably do not know who Evan Shaeffer is, but he is one of the most prolific bloggers in the legal field with three blogs to his name: Notes from the (Legal) Underground, The Illinois Trial Practice Weblog and The Illinois Personal Injury Blog. However, more recently, Evan has written a very good article for the Illinois Bar Journal–“What Weblogs Can Do For You“–which you can access at his firm’s website. I simply love what Evan had to say about legal weblogs here:
Imagine a website focusing specifically on your narrow field of law. The website isn’t updated once a year or even once a month, but once or twice a day. No longer are the nuggets of information pertinent to your practice scattered around and hidden everywhere. Instead, they’re all stored under a single roof. The website’s author acts as miner, polisher, and museum curator, all at once.
I have to say that that statement seems to capture best–more than any other article I have read–the essence of the legal weblog genre.
Thanks to Evan for listing Benefitsblog in his “useful blog” line-up! (He also writes about the Bar Journal article in “Blogging Evangelist Continues to Evangelize.”)
